SERIES/ Patristic & Ecclesiastical Texts
Published by: Orthodox Research Institute PressPatristic and Ecclesiastical Texts and Translations (General Editor: Protopresbyter George D. Dragas) The publications in this series are texts which present challenges in their grammatical construction, illustrate the development of the Greek language from the Classical Attic to Modern Greek, and can be used as study guides for a diachronic approach of Greek Literature.
These publications are also intended to be used as textbooks for advanced studies in Ancient, Early Christian and Byzantine Greek since they exhibit a great variety of forms of diction, an impressive wealth of vocabulary and they illustrate the complexity and occasionally the difficulty of expression when the authors regress into archaic styles in order to impress their audiences.
This is the reason why a diachronic and interdisciplinary approached has been adopted in the Introduction, tracing the development of the Greek language from the Koine to Modern Greek and comparing it to its origins in Classical Attic.

Against Those Unwilling to Confess That the Holy Virgin is Theotokos, by Cyril of Alexandria; Translated by Protopresbyter George D. Dragas (General Editor)
The present text can be described as a model of Patristic theological discourse. It is an anti-heretical treatise, which refers to a central dogma of Christian theology, the doctrine of Christ. Its importance lies, first, in that it demonstrates that dogma and exegesis are intertwined in Patristic theological thought and discourse; and second, that it shows that Patristic dogma is rooted in the biblical witness, and that the Fathers handled the Scriptures in a different way than the ancient heretics and many of our contemporary biblical scholars. 107pp Paper
